WHAT IS CHRYSALIS LIKE?
Chrysalis is a country home in a peaceful, rural setting in Hancock County, Illinois. The home has been extensively remodeled to be a beautiful place for the women who live there. It has the capacity for seven residents.

WHOM DOES THE HOME SERVE?
Chrysalis serves women, 18 years of age and older, who have recognized a need for a change from past unhealthy lifestyles and have made a personal commitment to work with Chrysalis Shepherding Home staff to effect that change. They may or may not be pregnant and may be single or married. They may also bring their children with them. They do not have to be from a specific geographical location. Each applicant will be prayerfully considered on an individual basis to be admitted as space in the home is available.















WHAT DO THE RESIDENTS DO?
They receive Biblical counseling and spiritual help. They attend Sunday School and church every Sunday, participate in Bible studies, and have daily devotions and prayer.  They are shown how to grow spiritually.  They set short-term and long-term goals to strive towards while at the Home.  They learn skills for good communication and accountability. They help with cooking, cleaning and other daily tasks. They may choose to have jobs outside the home and build savings toward their life goals and future independence. Most importantly, they develop lasting friendships with the staff and other residents throughout their stay that will continue to help them grow. 

WHAT DO THE CHILDREN DO?
The mother has primary care of her children.  If old enough, the children  attend school or they may be home-schooled by their mother. They do age-appropriate chores, attend Sunday School and church, and have play time.
